We navigate the same waters
we’ve been journeying for centuries,
tides never changing.
Adding to the toll:
Tens of thousands lost
Yet we keep going,
observing from a distance,
feeling grateful for what we have—
false security.
Forgetting our luck could shift at any moment
should we fail to act now
to protect the rights established to shield us.
All of us.
We must understand the fragile nature of luck,
how easily it can morph into misfortune
if we do not bring about the necessary change required
for the sea to alter its currents,
break free from the monsters trying to control it.
If our humanity proves insufficient,
let us rely on self-preservation.
For we know the truth:
any attempt to dominate
what was created to flow freely
ultimately leads to our own demise.
